I've had much fun using FPV Freerider alas the only controller I had is a dual thumb stick type affair. I have to say I was defiantly struggling trying to learn acro (rate) mode using these tiny thumb sticks!
Thankfully there is a simulation cable available for my RC Transmitter (FLYSKY FS-i6) This transmitter is quite common and has been re-badged and used by a number of different companies. I've noticed a number of different cables some of which plug into your sound cards microphone socket and need another piece of software to be running to emulate a joystick... What a faff!

I found it easier if I first calibrated it with jstest-gtk first before running FPV Freerider, although the 3rd axis is the Z axis, FPV Freeriders own calibration seemed to be able to handle the joystick interface and boy is there a noticeable difference! Its no exaggeration to say that the difference between thumb sticks and a RC controller is like night and day. Rather than struggling to not crash, I was almost immediately flying figure of eights above the gates (I'm still too much of a novice to tackle the gates just yet!) All in all a very worth while combo, if you have an FS-i6 tx, I'd strongly recommend the FS-SM100 cable and FPV Freerider....
