I've loved my various adventures with the Pi, but recently I got quite the shock...
At the time of writing a 16GB Pi (I intended to use for a server project) costs £292.80 - nope not a typo that's nearly three hundred pounds without case, SSD, power supply etc
For a lot less than that you can get an n100 or similar "mini pc" that includes an SSD, case and PSU
Unless you have a project with only meagre requirements (and you can choose a lesser model), the Pi just can't be justified... Oh but wait in that case I might as well be using an ESP32
While yes the price of memory is unrealistically high, alas in this day in age I just can't see where the Pi fits any more, given the power and cost effectiveness of an embedded controller like an ESP32 (or similar) and the cheapness of low spec x86 boxes, the Pi foundation finds themselves between a rock and a hard place
I'm far from the first person to notice this - but I just think its such a shame...
Looks like my work in progress "cyberdeck" may well be x86 and not arm.
How I wish this was a post for yesterday morning
